Ergonomic Ideas For Wellness
The study of humans in their working environment is referred to as ergonomics. An ergonomist designs or changes the work environment to fit the worker, not the other way around. The goal is to eliminate work-related discomfort and injury risk. Why is this important now? Maybe over the past year, during the pandemic, ergonomics have taken a back seat to just “working”? I know it is for me. With a focus on keeping a business running, and work-from-home changes, ergonomics has not been the focus. Well it’s time to bring it back in the limelight.
Take Care Of Your Body
You are no good to anyone if you don’t take time to keep your health in order. Are you sitting too long? Do you have the right mouse? How about your monitor? Is it the right distance? Do you need to stand, once and a while? All these are questions you must ask yourself. Aches and pain can easily creep up on you and before you know it you’ll be at your local pharmacy looking for pain medication; possibly causing irreparable damage to your body.
Some ergonomic items to keep a focus on:
- What mouse are you using?
- Are you taking care of your wrist?
- How’s your posture?
- Do you have the right chair?
- What about your monitor?
- Do you need a standing desk?
- Are you taking regular breaks?
There is so much more to detail I can go into with ergonomic ideas. At a later date I will delve more deeply into each individual item. Remember to take care of your well-being and put yourself first.
Connect
You may not have time for an all-inclusive vacation or all of life's comforts, but that doesn't mean you can't prioritize your health. Do not let stress take hold, remember you can't pour water from an empty cup. Keep connected and take care of yourself first my friend.
